Hal Gerstein, MD

Bio:

Dr. Hal Gerstein was a member of the exclusive Biomedical Research Program at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and the Albany Medical College in Albany, NY where he earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1978 after six years of study. While earning his degree, Dr. Gerstein was awarded the Mosby Award for Outstanding Research in the field of virology. He then successfully completed an internal medicine residency as well as a medical oncology and hematology fellowship at the North Shore University Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital from 1978 through 1984. Dr. Gerstein is board-certified in both  Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Gerstein is currently a Senior Attending Physician on the staff of both the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park. He has held teaching positions at the NYU School of Medicine and the Cornell School of Medicine, and is currently the medical advisor to the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network.  Dr. Gerstein has participated in over twenty research projects in the field of medical oncology as a principle investigator and has published several papers in nationally recognized journals. He brings over 30 years of clinical expertise to his patients.
